Who is shortgirl?

A self-proclaimed lover of clothes and shoes, Schaffstall learned at a very young age that not all clothes are created equal. At 4’ 9’’ tall it was very difficult to find clothes that fit well and were flattering.  Petite clothing was better than nothing, but she was still frustrated when she has to have petite pants tailored.  Petite clothing is designed for women who are 5’ 4” and under and there is a 7 inch difference between her height and 5’ 4”.

Schaffstall was tired of never being able to find pants that fit, and finding jeans that did not have to be tailored was next to impossible. Necessity is the mother of invention. Schaffstall took matters into her own hands and Shortgirl was born. Men’s jeans come in various inseams, but why not women’s?

In February of 2020 Schaffstall met with the Factory Buffalo to begin product development. Two years and a global pandemic later, she is ready to launch her first line of jeans for short women. Schaffstall resides in Lake View, NY with her husband of 34 years. The couple has three grown children.
