Hi Shortgirls, I am going to share with you one of my pet peeves about online shopping. First of all, I am a shopper, on-line, department stores, at the mall, doesn’t matter, I’ll shop till I drop. Given the current situation in the world and depending on where you live you probably haven’t been near a retail clothing store since March.
Being the expert shopper that I am, it’s taken me years to hone my craft. I usually find a brand I like and a style that I know looks good on me and then I turn to online shopping, saves time and there’s usually a lot of coupons. (More about getting the best deals later on) Recently I was browsing on one of my go-to online retailers and I clicked on the size chart to see the length this really cute jersey swing dress I was considering buying. It’s bad enough that the models are so young they don’t even look like they are old enough to drive, but you are advertising a petite dress with and I quote “ Model is 5’9” and is wearing a size small (4).” Ugh, so aggravating. She is a foot taller than me, 12 whole inches. I know the dress is going to look great on her, she’s 5’9” and wears a size small! She could wear a paper bag and still look good. Let’s get real here. I did some digging and this was not the only site that had tall models advertising petite clothing. I want somebody who represents me!
I did end up buying the dress and it hits at my knee. Very comfy and good for summer even though I can’t go anywhere!
Here’s a great online shopping tip to save you even more money. I’m sure you’ve heard about the 24-hour rule right? This is when you put an item (or items ) in your cart and wait 24 hours to see if you still want them or is it just an impulse buy? The great thing about this is the retailer can see that you’ve committed to putting items in the cart and typically will offer you an incentive to get you to the checkout, a percentage off, free shipping. They know you want the item and offer a discount to get you to commit. It’s a win-win in my book. So shortgirls, models shown on the site are not your height, so buyer beware and leave those items in the cart for 24 hours to maximize discounts! Happy shopping. Short but mighty, shortgirls rule!
